Your Tour Managers

Over time, a consistent trend has emerged from our guests’ responses, letters, and comments about their travels with Uncommon Journeys – how remarkable and professional our Tour Managers are.

Most have been with us for many years and the amalgamation of their tenure in the travel industry reveals centuries of knowledge about their trade.

It is not by accident that we enjoy the services of these talented individuals – they have been vetted and proven themselves time again to be outstanding in their field and so they should be, for the role in which they serve is perhaps the most important of all within our Company.

1) Favorite destinations and why?
The U.S.  National Parks and arriving by train !!    The National Parks are the very best use of our Federal Tax dollars and UJ itineraries do it up right !!   See America first.    Arriving and departing by train is fun and an adventure,  anyone can fly.  Reveal,  or create some character - take a train  !!   Sighting of wildlife in their natural habitat,  their home,  is a special thrill.

2) Hobbies:
Filling each page in my National Parks Passport and yes,  traveling some more on my own time.   I might learn something and usually do !

3) Most Memorable Experience:
Sighting of two  bull moose in the river right in front of our raft on a morning float trip on the Snake River near Jackson,  WY,  Summer, 2010.   Wow  !!

1) Favorite Destinations:
As many times as I have been to the National Parks, particularly those in the Western U.S., I look forward to every visit.  The parks are so vast and varied, with so many stunning seasonal changes, I never grow tired of them.

2) Hobbies:
Crazy for a Tour Manager I suppose, but one of my favorite things to do is travel – whether for business or pleasure, local or long distance.  While traveling, I like to work in hiking, bicycling, and photography.  At home, we keep a garden and despite the work that is involved, like working on our landscaping and yard.

3) Most Memorable Experience:
I remember traveling one evening on the train through the Clark Fork River Valley in Montana.  The sun was going down on one horizon, and a thunderstorm was putting on a spectacular display on the other while we rolled peacefully along the river’s edge.  More than any destination, it the serendipities of time and a place that make special memories for me.
